The city of Las Vegas invites the community to a free outdoor Caribbean Heritage Festival Saturday, May 18, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Sammy Davis Jr. Festival Plaza in Lorenzi Park, 720 Twin Lakes Drive. Bring your family to enjoy the traditions, music and flavors of the Caribbean. Performances will include steel drums, reggae, traditional Cuban music, Bahamian processionals and more. There will be free activities for children, face painting, community exhibitors, visual artists and artisan booths, as well. Jamaican/Latin Caribbean food trucks and an alcohol vendor will offer refreshments for sale. Bring low-back chairs and blankets to be more comfortable on the lawn seating. Pets will not be permitted inside the festival plaza.

Longtime KUNV 91.5 broadcaster and reggae artist Stan Rankin T will be master of ceremonies. Performing groups will include:

  • 56 Hope Road – the ultimate Bob Marley Experience, led by reggae musician Najja Hashim

  • Vegas Island Players (VIP)

  • Sounds and Rhythms of Cuba

  • Stan Rankin T

Description:

See, hear, and experience the intensely dramatic sounds and power of Japanese drumming as the Las Vegas Kaminari Taiko presents an earthshaking concert of traditional songs and contemporary pieces.

Formed in 1993 by George Goto and Doug Muraoka under the name β€œLas Vegas Taiko” (LVT), George served as the drum maker and Doug was the director. After practicing on tires and building their own drums, LVT became Las Vegas Kaminari Taiko (LVKT) because of the impressive thunderous sounds the drums made.

The group, which is part of the Las Vegas chapter of the Japanese American Citizens League, has spent over 20 years performing all over Southern Nevada at schools, conventions, casinos, and community festivals. Under the direction and instruction of Jennifer Caballero, LVKT music balances the traditional roots of taiko with modern sounds and influences. Members consists of students and performers of all ages.

Please note that the drums will be loud. For those with sensitive hearing, please bring your own earplugs or noise-canceling headphones.

Free and open to the public. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis and may be limited. For more information, please call 702.507.3459.

Inscriptagraphs Memorabilia and The Athlete Assist presents "A Night of Knights: Cocktails with The Coach" an evening with Bruce Cassidy & Zach Whitecloud! Enjoy an intimate experience you will never forget where you get to meet the Championship Coach, get his autograph, partake in a Q + A session and hear behind the scenes stories, all while sipping on cocktails and raising money for Bruce's nonprofit, "The Cassidy Murray Foundation".

The event takes place now on May 22, 2024, at Inscriptagraphs' brand new retail location at Tivoli Village! This event was initially postponed and at a different location, but the new location is inside Tivoli Village at Inscriptagraphs.

Fans will purchase either the General Admission ticket or the VIP Ticket (limited to only 50 tickets sold) to attend.

The VIP ticket includes exclusive access to a pre-event cocktail party from 6-7pm that includes a 1-on-1 intimate meet and greet with Bruce where you will get a picture with Bruce (on your camera) as well as with.... Vegas Hockey star Zach Whitecloud!! The party continues with a mix and mingle that includes open bar with Beer, Wine and Well drinks for the duration of the cocktail party, which will be attended by Zach Whitecloud. This opportunity is limited to only 50 tickets are available and costs $279 each. As part of purchasing a VIP ticket, you will recieve all of the perks of the general admission ticket below.

The General Admission ticket begins at 7pm where the Q&A session commences and Bruce will be interviewed by Dave "The Schmo" Schmulenson from ESPN Radio Las Vegas until approximately 7:45pm where Bruce will discuss all things about coaching Vegas' hockey team and their Championship run before, during and after! Guests will also have the opportunity to submit their questions for Bruce to answer during the live interview! Starting at approximately 8pm, the meet and greet / autograph signing will begin, where guests will be able to take a picture with Bruce (on their phone) and receive (1) autograph by Bruce on their personal item. All autographs include a Certificate of Authenticity included by Inscriptagraphs Memorabilia (retail value $15). All General Admission tickets will receive (2) drink tickets included towards, wine, beer and well drinks.

Additional autographs are available to purchase of Bruce Cassidy in addition to your VIP or General Admission ticket. Additional autographs are $60 each and include an Inscriptagraphs Certificate of Authenticity for each additional autograph purchased.

As stated above, a portion of the proceeds from this event will benefit Coach Cassidy's nonprofit, The Cassidy Murray Foundation. Drinks you purchase at the event will have monies tied towards funds raised at the event as well as the marquee silent auction provided by Inscriptagraphs!
