Description:

Holo Holo, a music festival celebrating island and reggae music, is coming to the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center on April 26-28, 2024. This three-day festival will be returning for its second consecutive year to share some of the best reggae and island music around.

Description:

The city of Las Vegas invites the community to a free Earth Day/Arbor Day celebration, tree planting and park cleanup at Centennial Hills Park Friday, April 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Community members that would like to help plant trees and clean up the park can sign up online here. Participants will enjoy DJ music, free snow cones and activities. Food trucks will offer refreshments for sale. See the map for location in the park.

The participants will plant 24 drought-tolerant shade trees, including Bur Oak, Chinese Pistache and Lacebark Elm varieties. Childrenโ€™s activities will include face painting, games, a bounce house and two craft stations.

Description:

In collaboration with local partner Nuwu Art, Howard Hughes will host the valleyโ€™s first ever Paiute Spring Festival at Downtown Summerlin on April 27 from 10am โ€“ 3pm. This event is open to the public, where guests will be entertained by melodic songs from Bird Singers and dancers from the Las Vegas Paiutes, Moapa Paiutes, Shivwits and other regionally connected groups, as well as dancing by Nuwu Wonumeegah, a Las Vegas Paiute dance troupe of Pow Wow dancers. Guests will have the opportunity to browse Paiute and other Southwest Native American handcrafted items and fine art, which is available for purchase. Children of all ages are welcome to participate in various art workshops.

Description:

As its 70th anniversary year continues, Opportunity Village is hosting two new events on April 27 as a way to say thank you to the community that has supported the nonprofit for the last seven decades.

The new daytime event, Spring Fest at the Magical Forest, takes place from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Admission is free, and ride wristbands are available for purchase at www.OpportunityVillage.org/events. Wristbands cost $7 if purchased online before the event, and $10 if purchased at the door. All minors need to be accompanied by an adult for entry.

Attendees will be able to stroll through the Spring Fest Artisan Market, participate in childrenโ€™s activities, or enjoy entertainment, rides, and carnival games throughout the day. There will be food and beverages available for purchase, and the community is invited to learn more about Opportunity Village during Spring Fest. Program services, volunteering, and hiring information will be available. In addition, there will be shredding bins onsite for those who want to bring paper to shred, and a Thrift Store donation truck will be ready for anyone looking to drop off thrift store donations on their way into Spring Fest at the Magical Forest.

In the evening, Sips & Sounds at the Magical Forest takes over from 6-9:30 p.m. Attendees can enjoy wine tasting through the Magical Forest from 6-7:30 p.m. before a 90-minute jazz and soul concert inside Camelot Hall, featuring Emmy-winning recording artist, songwriter, and actress Steph Payne and her band, Soul Fusion. Sips & Sounds at the Magical Forest is a 21+ event and features more than 15 wineries.

Food options will be available at two of the Magical Forestโ€™s iconic eateries, the diner and funnel cake truck. General admission is $40 per person, and each attendee will receive a custom wine glass. There are VIP ticketing options available on the website, www.OpportunityVillage.org/events. A cash bar and specialty food options will be available inside Camelot Hall during the concert.

Both events take place at Opportunity Villageโ€™s Smith Family Campus inside the Magical Forest, 6300 W. Oakey Blvd. All proceeds from both events will go to support Opportunity Village in its mission to empower, employ, and serve people with disabilities in our community

This curated fashion show will also challenge the participating local designers to create original looks, with a catch โ€ฆ

Currently 81% of the clothing used for the show will be from recycled/upcycled and preused clothing and materials in an effort to inspire fashion enthusiasts to repurpose and reconstruct clothing to make whatโ€™s old, new again while also encourage people to purchase from thrift stores for both new and vintage fashion looks.

Downtown Summerlin celebrates Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month with the third annual Lei Day Parade on Wednesday, May 1st at 6 p.m. along Park Centre Drive. The parade will celebrate the rich heritage of the Hawaiian and Pacific Islands and will feature local Halaus and Polynesian Dance Companies including the Hot Lava Productions, Nani Ola Hawaiian Dance Company, Tevakanui Polynesian Dance Group, and Na Hula Haliโ€™a Cultural Preservation.
